Hon. Mary Bensensio Wani
The Honorable Mary Bicensio Wani serves the National Dialogue as a member of its Leadership. Ms. Wani is a member of South Sudan’s National Parliament and has served in the field of accountability checks and balances as the first female Chairperson of Public Accounts. and chairperson of African Organization
Previously, she also served as Chairperson of the African Organization of Public Accounts (AFROPCA), Deputy Chairperson of Eastern African Association of Public Account Committee (EAAPAC), Chairperson of the Committee for Gender, Child Social Welfare, Religious Affairs, Youth & Sport, and was the first female as Chairperson of the Petroleum, Mining, Energy, Trade, Commerce, and Industry Committee.
The National Dialogue Leadership also benefits from Ms. Wani’s international experience. She was a member of the Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Committee, Chairperson of SPLM Women’s League in North America, and served as a caseworker and translator with the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA.
Some of her accomplishments including developing a legal framework of Parliamentary Service Commission, and engaging in an ad-hoc Committee to incorporate constitutional amendments to what was to become the Transitional Constitution of 2011. She developed a legal framework of Emoluments, Privileges, Benefits, and Allowances for Constitutional Post holders and Judiciary benefits and played a key role in enacting that framework into law.
Ms. Wani holds a Diploma of Accounting and Commerce from Egypt, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, MBA (Executive) from CTU Sioux Falls, USA. She also earned an MA in Transformational Leadership & Change from the International Leadership Institute in collaboration with University of Greenwich Business School in the UK.
