Mr. Ustaz Chan Deal Dut, the Deputy Head of the Information and Communication Unit of the National Dialogue Steering Committee is a Journalist, Political activist and a media advisor to various news outfits. He is an accredited member of the African Union Press as well as the South Sudan Association for Media Development (AMDISS). Currently he is working as an international freelance journalist and writer with Al-watan Arabic newspaper and as well as other websites. Prior to this, He worked as a reporter then Head of the Sports section at Almasier, the first Arabic newspaper in Southern Sudan. He also headed the Education section of the same newspaper till October 2013. In the same year, he got assigned as a correspondent for Russia Today Channel (RTV) to cover the 2013 crisis from Juba. In 2015, he became a deputy Editor for South-alshaab Arabic newspaper, then go promoted to Chief Editor in 2016. As a media advisor, Mr. Chan work as a consulted for Jemtel, a telecommunications company in Juba until 2017. He was also the media advisor, and secretary for information and external affairs in South Sudan Athletics Association until 2017.

Born on 23rd November 1984 in Rom-Majok village in former Northern Bhar Elgazal Awiel East County, Mr. Chan started his primary schooling in Comboni School from 1993- 2001 in Khartoum. He then went to in Khalid Ebn alwalid secondary school in Khartoum from 2001 to 2004, where he attained his secondary school certificate. He attended Juba University in Khartoum, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree Journalism, in the college of Arts & Humanities.

Mr. Chan was an active sportsman in university, representing Juba University in various championships’ competitions in athletics. He was also a political activist in the Modern Southern Movement Front at the university. Later, He joined the African National Movement Front (ANF), which was supported by the SPLM and was a part of the comprehensive peace agreement in 2005. Still a sports enthusiast, He is now a member of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) Information committee as well as a member of Information committee in South Sudan National Olympic committee (SANOC).
