This brief provides an overview of Tunisia’s successful National Dialogue process. The Tunisian National Dialogue was instrumental in helping the country transform from chaos to democratic elections and governance in the wake of the Arab Spring. The four leaders of the National Dialogue process were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts.
South Sudan National Dialogue has closely examined the Tunisian model. Our challenges are more complex; we have 64 tribes and 40+ languages; they have just a handful of tribes and all citizens speak Arabic as either a first or second language. However, there is still much to learn from their successes.
